Was looking for a no knead bread recipe after reading my friends blog and found this blog with a recipe for rainbow cake. I then started browsing and there was a recipe calling for sweet potatoes. Then I got to thinking about Saturday soup. Oh how I wish they had plantain here! :(I know this is a total ramble but there are quite a few things I miss about London:- Plantain
- Customer service
- Plantain
- Public transport
- Plantain (you get my drift right?)
- All purpose seasoning
- Normal priced Heinz products (rip ff process here. Imagine paying £3 for a can of baked beans!!)
- Anything Cadbury related that was made in the UK (African blend Caburys tastes like sand mixed with chocolate cast offs)
- The Wright Stuff on channel five (has anyone found this online? Five on demand prohibits viewing outside the UK)
Ill add to this as I go along lol.
We made two masks today. Theme: Butterflies! Sadie is working on some more but here is what we made so far:
Sadie's glitter/pink butterfly
My blue love butterfly
I had a sandwich from Prego on Wednesday that gave me one of the worst cases of food poisoning to date! Sick for 15 hours and now I'm just SORE (poor me :-( )Sadie was an absolute ANGEL. I didnt get up in time to put her on the shool bus Thursday so she was with me watching me be sick the poor thing. She got me water and wiped my head and rubbed my belly telling me "Bismillah Ummi (mummy) it will be ok"Such a sweetie pie! I managed to feed her with cereal and noodles (her fav food thank God) and she was able to get her own drinks. Im feeling much better today so will be treating her to some arts and crafts!
Been up to some arts and crafts with Sadie. She did a load of colouring and also made this:
A door hanger for the room she never sleeps in!The school is having a Princess party for the older girls so I was busy making origami boxes and doing some pretty rubbish crepe paper wrapping!!
Found this website and will be busy printing and making some animals with Sadie at the weekend!Paperbox worldIt's stupid cold indoors at the moment so much so that I was out on the balcony to get warm!
A few highlights to get you up to speed. The LE is rubbish at the moment. When ex - pats 1st came they were slightly rolling in it. Now? Its budget city seeing as the LE can go as low as 7.95 to the sterling when it was topping 11.42!!We celebrated the two Eids in style this year. I had a ball gown for the Eid and Sadie had a lovely tea dress. The second Eid was Sadies turn to be a princess with two ballgowns! We also went to Alexandria for a few days and stayed in a villa with a pool. The water was freezing but I was determined to have a swim and spent an hour in it.Which is probably what led to me being really ill for the next two weeks with what seriously felt like real flu.School started back in September with a fresh lot of children as well as some old faces. We went to England in the summer to see the fam which was nice but the attitudes of non Muslims towards lil 'ol me was horrendous!! Not too keen on going back anytime soon!!Ok what else? Oh!Started my business! Trinketsity and I'm also on Etsy and see here for my blog. Sadie is getting on much better at school especiallyy with her Arabic and Quran although she will tell you to yur face I hate Arabic.I finally learned the alphabet aaaand I can now read albeit super slow. It's so much fun reading every little bit of Arabic I come across!Ok now for a few pics and I promise I'll keep this thing up to date!
This blog has been taken over by my mum so she can talk about our life in Egypt!!Loads of posts to follow. (One right after this)
