Wow what a fortnight!

The Minx has decided to stay another week woo hoo! Right now she should be at home but shes not. Shes watching the TV and playing with Sadie whilst I'm writing on my blog lol.

So far:

We went to the Pyramids on the first friday. I went on a camel and rode it for the 1st time in my life. I can honestly say I will NEVER do that again!

My poor babba Sadie FELL OFF the camel. Thank God it was a soft landing! Literally before and after the fall we were cautiously navigating around some rocky terrain. Imagine, we were in the Sahara dessert!

So after the Camel ride/tour we went to a perfume seller. These people sell pure essences for 2le (around 2p) a gram. Before we went in I was offered no less than 50 camels for the Minx! I was literally rolling with laughter! This is something you hear or see in a movie not real life! The man said it with a straigh face too! LOL

So afterwards we bought some seriously wicked, indulgent, decadent essences and then headed home.

What else has happened? Well we have been to the pool and taken in some sun and unheated water (brrrr) and just hung out in the shade really.

Today we went to the Citadel. Now listen here. If you are a tourist you pay 50le (around fiver) entrance. If you are Egyptian or from the surrounding countries like Sudan you pay................ 2le!! Yes that IS a huge difference. So me? I strolled up to the kiosk and said "salaams usted" (Peace Sir). The man said to me where are you from? I said SUDAN. HE said go to the next window and pay 2le. I went to the window and gave the woman 4le (Sadie goes FREE), she gave me a receipt and after telling Sadie to shush we walked as slowly and relaxed as possible into the entry area. I. AM. A. DON!! LMAO!!!!!

The Citadel is absolutely gorgeous. Inside is full of caligraphy on the walls, you can see a pulpit, some gorgeously simple lamps and carpets galore. Outside there is a view of what looks to be half of Cairo where we took some pictures. I had to tell a group of Chinese men not to take pictures of us like we were part of the scene lol. I don;t mind me but aww to the H no pics of my CHILD! The thing is they said sorry and deleted the pics. Didnt we clock a whole load of people taking pics of us as we were leaving though? KMT. SOme people have NO boundaries or respect.

Next!! Khan Kahlili. It's a HUGE market for tourists and all things homely. Minx got a small shisha pipe set for a decent price, we saw a TINY kitten and bought a few other things. Oh, I was also caught up in negotiations with a stall holder selling Jilbabs (long dresses) as to how much he should pay me in Mahr (dowry) for Minx LMAO!!!! She didnt have a clue until I explained to her what we were chatting about hehehe.

The Minx was catcalled, whistled at and called "brown Suga" to our GREAT amusement.

Afterwards we walked right down to what I described to Minx as "Proper Egypt" I bought a few things and then we spent about 20 mins trying to get a taxi back up the long road. The idiots were trying to charge me tourist prices!!!

So now we are finally home and I shall be finishing off some Trinketsity orders and then going to bed for work in the am!

Toodles!!! xxx

My friend Michele has come to visit!

I am so happy to see her it's unreal lol. So far I've taken her to the Mall, my place of work and to visit one of my friends. We will be going to see the much anticipated (for her I've been twice already lol) Pyramids on Friday.

Its been a bit hard for her getting used to the heat poor thing. Summer came just as she did!

The MEN oh my gosh. When they see her she gets air kisses, doors opened, compliments, "welcome", offers from taxi drivers you name it! I need to keep her around! Life was SO easy yesterday in the city with The Minx around lol!!

Oh wow it has been two months since I last posted here! Naughty me!

Well between Faceboo, Twitter, my other blog, reading too many books and trying to get a summer school, Young Learners (ESL) school and the new September term under wraps with my friend its been kinda BUSY! *Deep breath*

Ok quick update:

My friend Michele is coming to see me in ONE day!! Whoo!

KBC International is official. KBC with loads of course available for children and adults wanting to perfect their English.

Sadie is growing like some kind of magic beanstalk! The last time I posted here she was 117cm tall. I measured her a few days ago and Lil Miss Tall and SLinky is now a whopping 120cm tall! Thats FOUR FEET at FIVE years old!

Anyway enough, enough I'm off again but will TRY and keep this blog more up to date!

Got our visas!

6 months overdue but hey this is Egypt and all they did was fine me few quid hehe.

I took Sadie with us to get them (Taxi pulled up at 7:45am yawn), she was her usual self and sat in the front seat dozing. On the way back she again dozed or chatted to the driver and my friend.

Today I took her to her Quran lesson at same friends house and her daughter made me buss out laughing!

Oh yeah why? Well when my friend came home she apparently ranted for 15 minutes about how quiet Sadie was and how she just sat in the seat and talked with no climbing over the seats, no screaming and shouting etc etc. If you knew this sister you would know this was a surprise as she hardly shouts or hollers lol

I'm just so used to how Sadie is it's sometimes weird to see how other children can behave in different situations.

Sorry had to share as it did sweet me!

Oh and we are sick AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been crafty in the kitchen the past few days. It's been incredibly frustrating because 1. I don't have any cupboards or kitchen counters to work on, 2. My oven does not have temperatures on it and 3. I don't have scales just those measuring cup thingys.

Whats good is this nifty little site for
food conversions I found a few years back while living in London. So, I've been making, soft cookies, choc chip muffins, puff pastry cheesy thingys and brownies! Chewy gooey in the middle scrumptious brownies.

I wont even show you how the 1st lot came out lol. The 1st 2 batches of cookies and muffins wet so fast ( I had a house full of kiddy visitors when they came out the oven) I didn't get a chance to take a pic! Ill take a pic of the cookies when they cool down and come off the rack but here is what I made earlier (and managed to take a pic of)

Well I thought spring was n its way but it appears to have changed it's mind! That's cool, it means I have more time to save for air con hehe!!!

Now some of you keep asking when are we coming back to England? Well, if anyone fancies springing for tickets we are SO there lol. In the meantime fares to Egypt are down to £270 so feel free to visit us people!!

Sadie has a cold AGAIN and has spread it to me. I'm just thankful is not the stomach flu, German measles or polio that is also going around.

Yes, I'm 30 today and thanks for the messages even though I no longer celebrate anything but the two Eids.

I hope you are all bundling up with your lecky blankets and keeping snug indoors! xx

Was looking for a no knead bread recipe after reading my friends blog

Healthy eating while broke

and found this blog with a recipe for rainbow cake. I then started browsing and there was a recipe calling for sweet potatoes. Then I got to thinking about Saturday soup. Oh how I wish they had plantain here! :(

I know this is a total ramble but there are quite a few things I miss about London:

  • Plantain
  • Customer service
  • Plantain
  • Public transport
  • Plantain (you get my drift right?)
  • All purpose seasoning
  • Normal priced Heinz products (rip ff process here. Imagine paying £3 for a can of baked beans!!)
  • Anything Cadbury related that was made in the UK (African blend Caburys tastes like sand mixed with chocolate cast offs)
  • The Wright Stuff on channel five (has anyone found this online? Five on demand prohibits viewing outside the UK)

Ill add to this as I go along lol.
